Careers

Thank you for your interest in joining the Boston Rising team. Our organization is currently recruiting candidates for the following positions:

Director for Development
This position will spearhead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising program to include all types of individual, foundation, corporate and possibly government support.  Reporting to the CEO, the Partner for Development must be a seasoned fundraising professional with a successful track record of major donor solicitation, and have hands-on experience in creating and executing short and long-term fundraising strategies on a large scale.

This is an extraordinary opportunity to partner with a highly motivated CEO and Board within a fast-paced and growing organization.  The ability to work independently with little support staff, think creatively, “roll-up one’s sleeves” and show results will be key to the Partner of Development’s success.

Boston Rising seeks an innovative and dynamic manager with the drive and determination to lead and inspire; a strategic thinker with significant management experience at a senior level; excellent communication, influencing and people-management skills.  The ideal candidate is a seasoned fundraising professional who can provide strong leadership and think entrepreneurially.  S/he must be a self-starter with excellent project management skills and have a demonstrable track record of personally identifying, cultivating and raising significant private and public funds for multi-million-dollar programs.  This role will place significant emphasis on success in soliciting gifts from individuals.  Nevertheless, we seek experience in raising support from foundations and private institutions as well.

  • Integrate with and provide input to all aspects of marketing and advancing the Boston Rising brand.

  • Help build a base of regular committed donors using all the latest fundraising tools available in a fully integrated manner.
  • Increase income and donor base by ensuring effective integration of fundraising, communications, and program strategies.
  • Design and maintain a world-class donor stewardship program for each segment.
  • In partnership with the CEO, lead, motivate, and manage fundraising staff and the Fundraising Committee of the Board.
  • Conduct training and “skill sharing” as needed to Boston Rising staff, grantees and partners.
  • Ensure support of the overall strategic direction of fundraising by maintaining open communication and teamwork.
  • Support the development of program case statements that can be presented to donors.
  • Represent Boston Rising to donors and prospects and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects for contacts and visits.  Report monthly on progress.
  • Monitor benchmarking against similar nonprofit fundraising operations, encompassing current fundraising/marketing trends and innovative opportunities in order to maximize fundraising opportunities.
  • Develop and monitor fundraising budget to ensure cost effectiveness and strategic expenditure of funds.
  • Provide updates to the CEO and Board as required.
  • Establish and maintain critical relationships with key donors, sponsors, community members, vendors, etc.
  • Assist in communicating marketing plans for each investment opportunity and improve acceptance and understanding of the strategy behind the plan. Help engender a sense of commitment to supporting overall fund raising plans.
